This T-shirt design was a passion project for me. My aim was to create new merch for fans of Happy Tree Friends.
My first concept (featured on the green shirt mockup) I was unsatisfied with, since it strays too far from looking like the official show style.
My second and final concept would be to mix grindcore band shirt style with the posing of the 2016 Doom poster. I commissioned artist Riz (RizardLiz on X/Twitter) for this art, as they are known to copy the HTF Ka-Pow! style accurately. I then added the grindcore-style lettering to the design myself.
Since I work at a screenprint shop, I have come across inspiringly unique designs. One such design, shown under concepts below, has splatter dye on the shirt for a more 'gory' look. I wanted red splatter shirts for this same reason. (Please excuse the quality of the shirt in the mockup, as there are no good examples of such a shirt pictured online.)
